San Floriano del Collio, 1972
Asci hamlet, where it all began
Set amidst a magnificent landscape of rolling hills dotted with vineyards, cherry orchards, and acacia groves, just across the border from Slovenia, lies San Floriano del Collio. It was here in 1972 that Mariano—together with his wife Loredana—planted his first vineyard on a small plot of land in the hamlet of Asci.
Over the years, thanks to their strong commitment and passion, the winery expanded its acreage, gradually building the winemaking, storage, and bottling facilities, reaching 30 hectares of vineyards located in the Collio and Friuli Isonzo DOC zones—lands that have always been prime wine-growing regions. Their children, Walter and Luana, and later their grandson Denis, joined the business, each taking on their own role, thus supporting Mariano and his wife in this family-run winery.

Between Collio and Friuli Isonzo
Where wine is born
Our vineyards stretch across the hills of Collio and the Friuli-Isonzo plain, lands that have always been ideally suited to the production of great wines.
A mild, temperate microclimate favorable to viticulture: to the north, the Julian Prealps shield the vineyards from the cold northern winds, and to the south, the Adriatic Sea helps moderate temperature fluctuations.
Soils with ideal characteristics for grapevines.
In Collio, the crumbly marl and hard, layered sandstone of Eocene origin—locally known as ponca—are rich in structure and mineral salts and offer excellent drainage.
In Friuli Isonzo, on the other hand, the soil consists of clay mixed with red gravel and pebbles, of alluvial origin, with a good supply of minerals and good drainage.
Excellent sun exposure, balanced productivity, and constant care of the vines are some of the fundamental principles we rely on, because a good wine comes from a good vineyard.
